Performance Tech Motorsports in Podium Pursuit for Canadian Tire Motorsport Park Return

Performance Tech Motorsports will be making their return to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the upcoming round of the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge, with Alex Kirby and Jonathan Woolridge leading the charge in the #7 L.A. Prep Ligier JSP320s and #38 Ligier JSP320s, with Jordan Menzin joining the team once again in the #18 Ligier JSP320s following his debut in the series at the previous round.

The team has seen a great deal of prior success at this circuit, with two podium finishes during last year’s visit, as Woolridge claimed the win in Race 1 in dominant fashion, and Kirby clinched third place in Race 2. This also serves as a homecoming event for Woolridge, with CTMP being his local track where the young driver has spent a great deal of time over the years. Performance Tech Motorsports also recently completed a successful test at the track a couple of weeks prior to the event, with two full days of running in preparation for the next two races.

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is notorious for its highly challenging nature, which features drastic elevation changes and high-speed sectors. It’s a track that requires full commitment and concentration across the entirety of the 2.459 mile, 10-turn layout.

“I am really looking forward to returning to CTMP,” said Alex Kirby. “This track has a lot of fun characteristics with its high-speed nature and elevation changes. We had a great combined result last year as a team, with a P3 finish for myself and Jonathan coming first at his home race. I'm confident that the team will give me the best car possible to make sure we can position ourselves to be back on the podium for this next weekend.”

“The pressure is on,” exclaimed Jonathan Woolridge. “I am beyond excited to be back racing in front of the home crowd. Ten years ago, I was that young kid hanging onto the fence watching the IMSA Prototype cars fly by into the first corner. The fans here in Canada love sportscar racing, which always makes racing here that much more special. This round at CTMP will mark one full year of being a part of Performance Tech Motorsports. I could not think of a better way to celebrate this milestone than to bring them a win again this weekend. Last year we set the bar high, and this time around I expect to set the bar even higher at the home track!"

“I’m very happy to be back with Performance Tech Motorsports,” echoed Jordan Menzin. “I learned a lot from my experience at Mid-Ohio, and I’m looking forward to continuing my progression with the team at CTMP. It’s a great track, and I’m eager to get back in the car.”

“We’re all very eager to return to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park,” expressed Team Owner Brent O'Neill. “We know this is a place where we can do well and achieve the results we’re striving for. We have been very successful here in the past, and we fully intend on replicating more podium finishes again this time around as well. Alex and Jonathan know this track exceptionally well, and we’re confident that they will be very competitive this weekend.”

The two 30-minute practice sessions will take place on Friday, July 12th at 8:35 AM and 12:15 PM ET, and the 15-minute Qualifying session will proceed later the same afternoon at 3:55 PM ET. Race 1 will follow on Saturday morning, July 13th, at 8:50 AM ET, with Race 2 scheduled on Sunday, July 14th at 3:35 PM ET.
