Challenge Accepted: Lime Rock Park

Performance Tech Motorsports’ focus is on the IMSA Prototype Challenge presented by Mazda series this weekend at Lime Rock Park for the Continental Road Race Challenge Saturday, July 22.

This race is the first and only single race event weekend for the series. The lone attention to the IMSA PC drivers will come as a warm welcome after back to back race weekends coinciding with the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The consistency in the July schedule also allowed drivers to better build upon their racecraft.

Lime Rock Park will continue to encourage development following the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park weekend by only two weeks. The 1.50 track will provide new challenges as drivers will be forced to deal with traffic more often than not during the 45-minute sprint.

Team Principal Brent O’Neill hopes to see redemption for some of his MPC class drivers after a wild Race Two in Canada. Both Dr. Robert Masson and Stephen Dawes were victims to incidences on track in Race Two. Dawes incidence was race ending, Dr. Masson’s stole a possible podium.

Kyle Masson will aim to continue domination of the MPC class after his back to back race wins at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Howard Jacobs received a boost of confidence after his clean weekend in Canada. He escaped the onslaught of carnage on track and continued building his speed and racecraft. They’ll both look to carry on these patterns to Lime Rock.

This will be his first time to Lime Rock Park for each of the Performance Tech Motorsports drivers.

“I think it’ll be good to get the guys back on track after how Mosport went,” O’Neill said. “I think they’re all excited to get back out there and redeem themselves. There’s only one race to do it; so, they’ll all have to be on their best behavior out there. It should be fine, they all get better and faster each race. It’s a new track for the Lites guys, so we’ll have some setup work to do, but it should be a good weekend, we’re looking forward to it.”

It’s a short weekend for Performance Tech with Practice One and Two taking place Friday, July 21. Qualifying takes places early race day at 9:05 a.m. ET. The green flag drops for the start of the Continental Road Race Challenge at 12:50 p.m. The race takes place right before the Northeast Grand Prix giving fans back to back entertainment. FOX Sports 2 will broadcast the race Thursday, August 24 at 8 p.m. Check imsa.com for a detailed schedule.
